Germany’s Sebastian Vettel won the 2010 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in style leading the race from start to finish, only borrowing the lead to Jason Button during his pit stop. Vettel took the the lead from the pole position and did with his victory secure the Formula 1 drivers championship title. This is Vettel’s first world F1 world championship title, however it is more than likely that the young German will go on and win more title’s in the future. Sebastian Vettel is the youngest ever F1 pole position holder. youngest ever fasters race lap setter, youngest evet race winner, and now also the youngest ever Formula 1 world champion.
Two weeks earlier Vettel’s tram RedBull Racing secured the formula 1 constructors title.
Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber failed to deliver
The championship leaders before the race Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber in 2nd failed to deliver in the last championship deciding race. For Fernando Alonso a forth place would have been enough to take the championship even if Vettel would win the race. Alonso made an early pit stop got stuck behind Renault’s Vitaly Pertrov who held Alonso behind him the rest of the race. Alonso finished only 7th with Mark Webber in 8th position.
Vettel deserved the title
Even if Sebastian Vettel had not been leading the championship at any stage before the final race, he is without doubt worth the title. Vettel set an astonishing 10 pole positions this season, and a number of fastest race laps. Remembering that Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was in the championship lead mainly due to the Ferrari team order scandal earlier in the season, we are pleased to see that Sebastian Vettel took the title despite the unfair tactics used by the rival italian team. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber at RedBull Racing did both race for the title and at no stage did the team utlilise team order, similarly also McLaren Mercedes stayed away from team orders with Jason Button and Lewis Hamilton both both fighting for the title.
Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull Racing team for taking their first world championship titles!
