Formula 1 Kimi Raikkonen Come Back! Kimi ready for Red Bull Racing 2011

Formula 1 Korean GP

Rumors at the Korean Grand Prix suggests that Kimi Raikkonen is making a come-back with Red Bull Racing for the Formula 1 season 2011! It is known that Kim’s management was in touch with Renault a bit over a week ago. Kimi rejects that there would be any talks about him returning for Renault F1. More likely is that Kimi will make his come back replacing Mark Webber at Red Bull Racing.
Would the contact with Renault had been regarding the Renault engines? It is known that the Renault engines has been reliable this season, but they are also the weakest link at Red Bull Racing due to the disadvantage in performance when compared to both Ferrari and Mercedes engines.

Kimi Raikkonen drives this season in the World Rallye Car championship (WRC) with a french car, however he is backed by RedBull.
Even more interesting is that the RedBull Formula 1 team is using Renault engines. Talks about Mark Webber retirement has been around since the beginning of the season and it may well be that Mark will retire no matter does he win the world championship title or not. Kimi would only consider a come-back in a winning car, so RedBull is arguably the best option. A return to McLaren is not likely, Ferrari is for sure not an option with Fernando Alonso firmly positioned as the number 1 driver. Alonso basically kicked out Kimi from the first driver position at Ferrari with a massive pile of cash from the Spanish Santander bank.

Mercedes GP could well be interested in Kimi’s services but the performance is not there – at least not this year. Can Brawn make the Mercedes GP team successful? Can he lure Kimi to the team with a good salary and a promise of a better car next year? Maybe, but Kimi is probably not to interested in a uncompetitive car. No matter what kind of money Mercedes would pay for his services. Kimi will need proof of a better car for next season to reflect. The most likely option is that we see Kimi take over Mark Webbers position at RedBull Racing if the rumored come-back becomes true.
